OSHAWA, Ont. – Jaimie Clarke (Elmvale, Ont.) and
Lucas Pichl (Cobourg, Ont.) have been named the Durham College student-athletes of the week presented by Subway.
Clarke, a first-year nursing student, was named to the tournament all-star team at the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association (CCSA) national championship over the weekend in Saskatoon, Sask. She finished with a .333 batting average, with three RBIs over four games. Her best game came against the host Saskatchewan Huskies, a 3-2 win, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Pichl, a first-year emergency services student, led the Durham College golf team to a fourth place finish at the OCAA championship last week. Over the three-day tournament he finished plus-13, which put him in the top ten at the event. Following the provincial championship he helped the Lords win the President's Cup over the cross-campus rival UOIT Ridgebacks on Thursday at Royal Ashburn. This was the second straight win for the Lords.
Tuesday night the women's softball team is back in conference action when they host the Mohawk Mountaineers at Durham Field. The doubleheader gets underway at 6 p.m.
The golf team has concluded their 2016 season.
