Richard Snowden
Inducted April 3rd, 1998
Richard Snowden was born in Oshawa in 1937 and began his career as an administrator at Durham College in 1971. During his lengthy career at Durham he also spent just as many years as a coach of Durham's Softball and Curling teams. In all he guided DC teams to 7 Ontario OCAA Championships (Men's Curling 1972-73, 1994-95, 1995-96 - Women's Curling in 1982-83 and Women's Softball in 1982-83, 1983-84, 1984-85).
Richard holds the distinction of coaching Durham College's first ever OCAA Champion team leading the 1972-73 Men's Curling team to Gold. In addition, Snowden coached teams also captured 12 Silver and Bronze medals.
His dedication and enthusiasm was evident throughout his lengthy coaching career at Durham and his hard work helped develop a large part of the Durham Athletic program tradition that continues today.
