OSHAWA, Ont. – Kristen Curtis (Frankford, Ont.) and Darian Rowe (Maple, Ont.) have been named the Durham College student-athletes of the week presented by Boston Pizza North Oshawa for the period ending Feb. 7.
Curtis, an advanced law enforcement and investigations student, continued her dominance at the net on Sunday in the women’s volleyball team’s win over the Canadore Panthers with four blocks, alongside six kills. Her lone service ace proved to be the biggest in the match as her ace was the final point of the 21-19 fifth set win to take the match 3-2 over the Panthers to lock up first in the OCAA east division.
In Tuesday’s win over Fleming she was tied for the team-high in kills with six, while adding an ace.
Rowe, a public relations student, had a career-high 30 points on Saturday in the men’s basketball team’s 87-79 loss to the Canadore Panthers, while putting up eight rebounds in 29:06 on the court. On Wednesday in Peterborough in Durham’s 81-58 win over the Fleming Knights he was one rebound away from a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
The women’s volleyball team is back in action this Thursday for their final home game of the regular season against the Seneca Sting at 6 p.m., while the men’s basketball team travels to the nation’s capital over the weekend for games against the Algonquin Thunder on Saturday and La Cité Coyotes on Sunday.
