Langley named student-athlete of the week
OSHAWA, Ont. – Rory Langley (Uxbridge, Ont.) has been named the Durham College student-athlete of the week presented by Boston Pizza North Oshawa for the period ending Feb. 21.
Langley, a first-year sport management student, was a key piece in the Lords’ sweep of the Humber Hawks on Sunday afternoon to advance the men’s volleyball team to the OCAA championship for the fourth straight season. In what was arguably one of his best games on home court this year, the Lords’ setter had 29 assists, a block and was tied for the game-high with nine digs. Of his nine digs, two from the first set stood out in particular. From his stomach, Langley kept the play alive twice, helping the Lords earn the point to tie the first set 20-20. Durham went on to take the opening set 25-23.
In Durham’s 3-1 victory over Georgian to wrap up the regular season, he had 35 assists, an ace, a block and nine digs.
The Lords will now face the Niagara Knights in their opening match of the OCAA championship at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25.
