Durham College Athletics

OSHAWA, Ont. – Nicholas Axhorn (Pickering, Ont.) of the men's soccer team and Taylor Lantaigne (Whitby, Ont.) of the women's rugby team have been named the Durham College student-athletes of the week for the period ending September 10.
 
Part of the Lords defensive unit, Axhorn played a key role in shutting down the Algonquin Thunder offence that was second in scoring in the OCAA a year ago. Durham shutout the Thunder 2-0 for the programs first victory against Algonquin in 17 seasons. This is also the first conference loss for the Thunder since October 13, 2010.

Men's soccer will play their home opener this Friday night against the Fleming Knights. Kick-off for the women's match is 6 p.m. followed by the men's at 8:15 p.m.
