Durham College Athletics

OSHAWA, Ont. – Marina Christie (Pickering, Ont.) of the women's softball team and Josh Taylor (Barrie, Ont.) of the men's golf team have been named the Durham College student-athletes of the week for the period ending October 9.
 
Christie, a human resources student, was clutch for Durham College over the last week. In the Lords' doubleheader against the Conestoga Condors last Tuesday she hit a walk-off triple in Durham's 7-6 win to cap off a two-win night at Durham Field. At the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association (CCSA) championship over the weekend she was key in the Lords 4-3 quarter-final victory over the St. Clair Saints. Down 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth with two out and Ashley Black on base, Christie hit an RBI triple to bring Black home before scoring on Melissa McKnight's single to win the game.
 
This week the Lords softball team is on the road on Tuesday and Thursday against Mohawk and Humber before returning home this weekend to wrap up their season. On Saturday, they host the first-place St. Clair Saints before celebrating their graduating seniors on Sunday against the Fanshawe Falcons.

The Durham College athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
