Durham College Athletics

OSHAWA, Ont. – Ashley Wallace (Coldwater, Ont.) of the women's softball team and Jeremy Bangala (Pickering, Ont.) of the men's soccer team have been named the Durham College student-athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 22.
 
Wallace, a police foundations student, was named the OCAA softball championship MVP on Saturday for her performance in Durham College's successful weekend in Brampton. With the Lords winning their third straight provincial softball title, Wallace was a key part of that as she had a hot bat – specifically against the top-seeded St. Clair Saints. She hit a grand slam on Friday night in the top of the sixth to put the game almost out of reach as the Lords went on to win 11-0 over the Saints and earn a spot in the championship game.
 
In the second gold medal game (double knockout format), after falling 4-2 to St. Clair, Wallace hit a three-run shot in the top of fourth to lead Durham College to a 9-0 victory and a third straight championship. Over the weekend she was 4-15 with 11 RBIs and two home runs over five games.
  
The Durham College athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
