Durham College Athletics

OSHAWA, Ont. – Ashley Wallace (Coldwater, Ont.) of the women's softball team and Jeremy Bangala (Pickering, Ont.) of the men's soccer team have been named the Durham College student-athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 22.
 
Bangala, a second-year computer science, scored his first goal of the year on Sunday in Windsor. It was an important one as it was the tying goal for the Lords in their OCAA championship qualifying game against the St. Clair Saints. Durham was down 1-0 after a 25^th minute goal by the Saints, but early in the second half Bangala buried his first of the year and only his third OCAA goal since joining the Lords in 2016. Teammate Bruce Cullen scored two more to lift Durham College to a 3-1 victory.
 
The men's soccer team will be in Peterborough for the 2017 Belairdirect OCAA Men's Soccer Championship this week. They open against the Fanshawe Falcons on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 9 a.m.
 
The Durham College athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
