OSHAWA, Ont. – Erik Janssen (Hampton, Ont.) of the men’s volleyball team has been named the Durham College student-athlete of the week for the period ending November 26.
Janssen, a biomedical engineering technology student, had a career-high 26 points in Sunday’s victory over the La Cité Coyotes.
After having their match called midway against the Algonquin Thunder on Saturday, the Lords regrouped and earned a 3-2 victory as Janssen led the way with multiple career highs. He had 23 kills, two aces and a block for 26 points to top his previous career-highs of 22 and 25 points. Both were achieved on February 6, 2015 against the Algonquin Thunder.
This week Janssen and the Lords are back in action on Tuesday and Thursday at home as they host the George Brown Huskies and Centennial Colts at the CRWC. Both matches will start at approximately 8 p.m., directly following the women’s matches, which begin at 6 p.m.
The Durham College athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
