Hare and Smith named Durham College student-athletes of the week
OSHAWA, Ont. – Basketball players Kelsey Hare (Whitby, Ont.) and Eric Smith (Ajax, Ont.) have been named the Durham College student-athletes of the week presented by Boston Pizza North Oshawa for the period ending November 24.
Hare, a senior on the women’s basketball team, surpassed the 1,000 career point mark as she netted 20 points in Durham’s 67-19 victory over the Fleming Knights. Hare has recorded 1,002 points in five seasons with the Lords, as she sits in fourth place on the OCAA all-time scoring charts. Former teammate Erin Emery is the all-time Durham College leading scorer with 1,067 career points.
Smith made his conference debut for Durham and had an immediate impact as he recorded 27 points and 15 rebounds in the Lords 88-74 victory over the Fleming Knights. Smith suffered a shoulder injury during the finals of the David Stewart Tip-Off tournament which put him on the sidelines for the Lords’ first seven games.
