Durham College Athletics

OSHAWA, Ont. – Alyssa Navarro (Oshawa, Ont.) of the women's basketball team and Funsho Dimeji (Malton, Ont.) of the men's basketball team have been named the Durham College student-athletes of the week for the period ending Feb. 25.
 
Navarro, a nursing student and a rookie on the women's basketball team, had a career-high 12 points Tuesday in a 72-63 win over the Centennial Colts, which was the Lords' final regular season game. She also had seven rebounds and three steals. Navarro followed that with her first double-double on Sunday in Durham's crossover game against the Sheridan Bruins. She finished with 10 points and 10 boards in the 80-74 victory, which qualified them for the 2018 Belairdirect OCAA Women's Basketball Championship at Humber College March 2-4. Their first game is 8 p.m. on Friday against the Fanshawe Falcons.

The Durham College athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
