Black, a fifth-year emergency services fundamentals student, was exceptional for the Lords as they returned home from the 2019 OCAA championship this past weekend with a provincial silver medal. The veteran pitcher was named an OCAA league all-star prior to the start of the championship, and went on to also be named a championship all-star. Black opened the tournament with a complete game victory over the St. Clair Saints, giving up just one earned run, while striking out seven. She then went on to appear in relief in the Lords crucial Day 2 win, securing the final out versus St. Clair to reserve their place in the gold medal game. Taking to the pitching circle as the starter in the championship final, she helped push the game against Humber into extra innings, striking out an outstanding 12 Hawks batters through 7.2 innings, while giving up just one earned run in the loss. She added two hits and two runs at the plate for DC as well.Â
