Suarez, a first-year fitness and health promotion major, proved to be a key bat in the Lords national championship lineup this weekend. The power-hitting DH scored the game-tying RBI in the championship final versus the Thompson River Wolfpack with a long shot off the left field fence in the fifth inning, before then crossing the plate for the game-winning run in the 2-1 eight inning victory. Suarez was named the National College Baseball Championship MVP, finishing the national tournament 7-for-14, adding four walks for an outstanding on-base percentage over five games played.
