Gates, a first-year conflict resolution and mediation student, delivered in back-to-back wins for the Lords as part of the opening weekend for the OCAA women's rugby season. Joining the DC women's rugby program after competing the last two seasons as a member of campus partner Ontario Tech Ridgebacks women's lacrosse, the Uxbridge native showcased incredible athleticism in her debut in the green and gold. Gates led the Lords in scoring with two tries and three converts in their 40-5 season opening win over the Seneca Sting. She then followed that up with another big scoring effort, recording a try and five converts in Durham's 33-7 victory over the Fleming Knights. In two games to open the new season, Gates tallied 31 total points with three tries and eight converts.
