Tony Clarke

Tony Clarke joined the Durham College women’s volleyball program as head coach in 2014.

During his time at the helm of the coaching staff, Clarke has led the Lords to the final four of the OCAA championship in four of five years - including earning two silver medals (2015, 2017) and a bronze (2019).

Heading into his sixth season, the third women's volleyball coach in school history, holds a conference record of 80-12 and an overall record of 118-40.

Known as an outstanding recruiter and student of the game, Clarke has earned three OCAA coach of the year honours since joining the Lords (2016, 2017, 2019). During the 2017 season, Clarke was also crowned as CCAA coach of the year.

Before coming to Durham, Clarke spent seven seasons as the head coach at Loyalist College before taking on the men's lead role at Trent University.

He took the women's program at Loyalist, that had won just four times the previous year (2005-06), back to the OCAA playoffs with an 11-3 conference record just a year later. In 2008-09, he was named OCAA coach of the year after leading the Lancers to a 17-3 record and a final four finish at the provincial championship.

Prior to coaching, Clarke, a Clarington resident, was a member of the Loyalist College Lancers as a student-athlete from 1994-1996, where the Lancers captured an OCAA gold medal in 1995.
