This September, coach Nemish will be entering his 31st season as head coach of the Lords softball program.
While leading the Lords, coach Nemish has become a legend in his own right; he has seen his teams medal every year except three over the past 30 years. The Lords won provincial medals in 16 consecutive seasons from 1997 to 2012 and have collected a total of 35 since 1981 (20 gold, 10 silver, 5 bronze), the most of any college in league history.
His Lords squads have posted a simply incredible conference record under Nemish of 305-51 for an untouchable .857 winning percentage (at the conclusion of the 2018-19 season). Included in this daunted record is an all-time school record and OCAA record of 56 consecutive conference wins.
The veteran coach is the winningest coach in OCAA women’s fastball history and reached the 500 career win milestone in the 2018 OCAA gold medal game. He is an extremely disciplined coach who expects commitment and dedication on and off the field from his team members, including the importance of academic success.
A graduate of Durham College himself, coach Nemish resides in Oshawa and enjoys golf in the offseason.
Coach Nemish has developed the Lords softball program into one that is highly respected in the province, as well south of the border in New York, Illinois and Michigan State. The team annually travels to play against very tough U.S. competition.
