OSHAWA, Ont. – There were no serious Thunder strikes near the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre on Saturday as the Durham College women's volleyball team won the battle of undefeated teams 3-1.
 
It was no easy feat though as the first set went the distance, and some, with the Lords finally taking the opening frame 29-27 after Algonquin led for much of the set.
 
The Thunder didn't get down on themselves, even after a slower start in the second, as they bounced back in the match to win the second set 25-21.
 
Durham didn't walk over Algonquin in the following two sets, but would have the edge as they took the third 26-24 and 25-23 to earn their fourth win in as many matches.
 
Emily Hacker (Cobourg, Ont.) led the Lords with 11 kills, four service aces and 20 digs. Allison Marshall (Orillia, Ont.) added 10 kills and two service aces.
 
Leading Durham in the block category was Jessica Broad (Courtice, Ont.) with three. She also finished the match with seven kills.
 
Algonquin was led by Breanne Scheerhoorn and Victoria Waizmann who picked up 12 and 11 kills respectively. Scheerhoorn also added three service aces.
 
The Lords will now have the week off as they travel to North Bay for their next game Nov. 14 against the Canadore Panthers.
