Durham wins sixth straight

BARRIE, Ont. - The Durham College women's basketball team defeated the Georgian Grizzlies in convincing fashion, 73-42 on the road in Barrie on Friday night.

The win is the seventh consecutive win for the green and gold, improving their record to 9-2 on the season. DC currently sits alone in second place in the OCAA east division, trailing behind only the 10-0 Algonquin Thunder. The win also marks the sixth straight win for the Lords over the Grizzlies with the last loss to the opponents from Barrie coming in February 2017. Durham holds a 38-5 all-time record over Georgian dating back to 1997.

The Lords defence once again impressed, holding the Grizzlies to just five points in the first quarter, while recording 21 steals in total to just six for Georgian. DC's offence was also clicking as they outscored Georgian in the paint, off the bench, and in second chance points.

Durham continues their three game road swing next week in a showdown with the St. Lawrence Vikings in Kingston on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Tip-off for the road contest is scheduled for 6 p.m. All the action can be streamed via OCAA LIVE.
  • Leading the Lords on the night, fifth-year veteran guard Andrea Zulich (Sudbury, Ont.) scored a game-high 19 points, knocking down three jumpers from behind the arc, while adding five assists in guiding the offence.
• Kendra Oliver (Ajax, Ont.) once again delivered inside the paint for Durham, finishing with 15 points to record double-digit points in 10 of the Lords 11 games this season.
• Two Grizzlies broke double-digits in the loss as Kelsey Dunkeld and Cassidy Warren-Timpano notched 16 and 12 respectively.
  • Both Zulich and Oliver tied for the team-high in rebounds with six apiece, combining for six offensive boards.
• Dunkeld and Alexis Knight registered eight rebounds each for Georgian.
  Overall Record: 15-7 (W-L)
Conference Record: 9-2
