TORONTO, ON - Making up a previously postponed match versus the Seneca Sting from earlier in the season, the Durham Lords men's baseball team fell 6-5 in their regular season finale on Sunday afternoon.
DC was quick to jump ahead, leading the Sting 4-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth. However, conceding four runs in that bottom half the Lords fell prey to a come-from-behind win from Seneca who clinched the top spot in the OCAA East. Finishing the regular season with a 7-7 record, the Durham Lords completed their 2021 regular season campaign in second place in the OCAA East, ahead of the 2021 OCAA championship.
Durham College is proud to host the 2021 OCAA men's baseball championship, welcoming OCAA competitors to Kinsmen Stadium from Oct. 21-23. The first game of the provincial championship is set for 4 p.m. this coming Thursday, Oct. 21.
• Continuing their impressive rookie campaigns in the green and gold, a trio of Lords players shined at the plate in
Cruz Lopez (Brooklin, ON) who went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run,
Ryan Mattes (Whitby, ON) going 2-for-4 with an RBI, and
Cam Lugtenburg (Bowmanville, ON) who also went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Thomas Handy drew the start for the Lords pitching 4 innings, allowing two hits, two walks, and two earned runs, while striking out three.
• Appearing in relief,
Ryan Fisher (Bradford, ON) and
Charlie Martin (Elmvale, ON) pitched 1.1 and 0.2 innings, respectively, conceding two hits and three earned runs combined.
