OSHAWA, ON - The Durham College men's baseball team saw there journey at the 2021 OCAA baseball championship come to an end on Friday following two losses on Day 2, falling 5-4 to St. Clair before a 2-0 loss to Seneca.
In a tightly contested opening game against the No. 1 seed from the OCAA West division, Durham doubled St. Clair in hits 10-5, but were unable to cash runners in when in scoring positions. A pitching duel then followed in the Lords second game as after Durham conceded two runs in the first inning DC relief pitcher Thomas Aronowicz (Whitby, ON) and Seneca pitcher Matthew Scarcello delivered scoreless inning after scoreless inning. Both found themselves in tough situations with bases loaded, but no more runs would be scored.

Game 1
• First-year outfielder
Cam Lugtenburg (Bownmanville, ON) led the way for DC going 3-for-4 with two runs.
• Scoring two RBI for the Lords,
Wendel Johnson (Whitby, ON) went 1-for-3 with a walk, adding a run.
• Spencer Morin delivered a crucial two RBI double for the Saints in the fourth inning, finishing 1-for-2 with an additional two runs.
Game 2
• A solid performance at the plate, Lords catcher
Josh Arce (Oshawa, ON) consistently found himself on base going 3-for-4 in the defensive stalemate.
• Six Seneca batters picked up a hit in the low-scoring win, led by a 2-for-3 night from Gabe Bourgeois.
Game 1

Ryan Mattes (Whitby, ON) pitched all six innings for DC, striking out three while giving up five hits, two walks, and five earned runs in the loss.
• Using a trio of pitchers, Aden Ryan and Jacob Rajsigl combined for the win for the Saints.
Game 2
• As mentioned, Aronowicz was impressive for the Lords conceding zero runs on three hits and three walks, while striking out eight Sting batters in 3.2 innings of work.
• Scarcello was sensational for the Sting going five scoreless innings with five hits, four walks, and three strikeouts.
