VAUGHAN, ON – The Durham College men's soccer team saw their season come to an end on a rainy Wednesday afternoon with a 5-1 loss to the Humber Hawks.
Humber scored in the 18th minute to take an early lead. Durham would see a player take their second yellow in the 32nd minute and was shown a red as a result – forcing the Lords to play with ten men for the remaining hour. The Lords held the nationally ranked undefeated Hawks to one goal going into halftime.
The beginning of the second half was a score fest. Humber doubled their lead in the 50th minute to go up 2-0.
William Lyden (Oshawa, ON) put the Lords on the scoreboard, cutting their deficit in half with a 52nd minute goal. Only two minutes later, the hosts responded back to go up by two goals again. Another two minutes later, Damion Kaye scored his second of the afternoon for Humber to take a three-goal lead.
The Hawks added one more for good measure in the 81st minute, taking a 5-1 win into the semifinals where Humber will play the Fanshawe Falcons.
Following their exit from the championship, the Lords head into the offseason and will begin recruiting and training for the 2023 season.
