OSHAWA, Ont. – Opening the 2022 season at home, the Durham Lords women's basketball team fell 71-62 to the Algonquin Wolves.
From start to finish the Wolves led, with Dasia McDonald pacing their offence with 16 points. Sydney Moore and Jennica Klassen also finished in double-digit scoring with 14 and 13 points respectively.
Durham College was led offensively by
Brianna Morrison's (Oshawa, Ont.) 14 points, while
Onika Leveridge (Scarborough, Ont.) was one rebound off a double-double, finishing with 13 points and nine boards.
The Lords had the better field goal percentage in the game, 47.6% compared to 46.5% by Algonquin, but the Wolves were 96.2% at the line, topping the Lords 80%. Algonquin also shot 30% from beyond the arc.
Durham now turns their attention to the Centennial Colts (Feb. 16 – Scarborough) and Seneca Sting (Feb. 18 – Oshawa) next week.
