ETOBICOKE, ON – A 24-point fourth quarter performance by the Lords would not be enough as the Humber Hawks hang on to defeat Durham 79-68.
The undefeated Hawks showed early why they sit at the top of the conference, causing Durham to trail 24-16 after one quarter and 41-30 at the half.
Brianna Morrison (Oshawa, ON) picked up nine points and a pair of steals coming out of the gates in the third quarter, but the Lords still had an uphill battle to climb, trailing by 20 heading into the final frame.
The fourth quarter showed lots of life in the fourth quarter, scoring 24 points and holding the Hawks to their lowest point total of the game with only 15.
Marie Stasiuk (Cobourg, ON) hit four field goals and a pair of free throws for 11 points in the quarter alone. This chipped away at the deficit but unfortunately time was not on their side.
Morrison finished with a season-high 24 points, shooting 10-for-18 on the afternoon.
Taesia Pinnock (Pickering, ON) was a defensive force, grabbing 10 defensive boards and recording two steals and a block.
Durham forced 28 turnovers against the hawks, scoring 32 points off of turnovers in the game.
The Lords will be back in action on Wednesday as they host the Loyalist Lancers at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre.
