OSHAWA, ON – For the third consecutive game, the Durham Lords men's basketball team earned a victory, this time 91-75 over the Loyalist Lancers.
Loyalist came into Oshawa with an undefeated record in conference play, but the Lords kept them on their toes early with a 45-33 lead by halftime. The Lancers were only able to chip away at their deficit by a mere two points in the third quarter, before the Lords hit eight Field Goals and six Free Throws in the fourth quarter to run away with the game.
Adam Hosseini (Toronto, ON), the reigning Durham College Athlete of the Week, led the way with 21 points.
RJ Stephenson (Markham, ON) recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds in 30 minutes of play before suffering an injury.
Shots from beyond the arc were key in the victory, with Durham shooting 44.4% from the three compared to Loyalist's 18.2%. But most notably, the Lords led on the scoreboard right from the first basket and never gave up that lead.
The Lords will look to extend their winning streak to four as they make the trip to Barrie on Friday to take on the Georgian Grizzlies.
