OSHAWA, ON – After a ceremony recognizing graduating seniors in the program, the Durham Lords fell short 92-68 to the George Brown Huskies.
The Huskies came out strong, taking a nine-point lead after the first quarter. Durham battled back in the second, dropping 17 points but faced an uphill battle to climb as they trailed 44-30 at the halftime break.
George Brown were able to create more separation with a 25-point third quarter as the held Durham to 17. The Lords battled hard through the fourth quarter until the end, but ultimately came up short.
Tyrique Walters (Brampton, ON) was the team leader in points coming off the bench, tallying 21 points, three rebounds and a pair of steals in 23 minutes of play.
Adam Hosseini (Toronto, ON) hit 19 points, while
Mark Stoop (Oshawa, ON) grabbed 12 rebounds in the game.
Daniel Agyekum Harris (Fairfax, Virginia) also made an offensively productive use of his minutes coming off the bench, recording five points and two rebounds in seven minutes of action.
Graduating Seniors
On Wednesday evening, the Durham College men's basketball team honoured their lone graduating senior –
Sleiddy Joseph (Ottawa, ON). In the shortened season, Joseph appeared in four conference games. The 6'6" centre dropped buckets against Algonquin, Centennial, Georgian and will be graduating from Durham's Office Administration program.
The Lords will be back in action to close out the regular season on Friday, March 4 as they travel to face the St. Lawrence Surge. Tip-off is set for 8:00 PM.
