OTTAWA, ON - On Sunday afternoon, the Durham Lords men's basketball team completed their 2022-23 OCAA regular season campaign with a 95-68 win over the La Cité Coyotes.

Despite being on the outside of the playoff picture, the Coyotes still had a lot to play for as they aimed to avoid going winless this season. They showed how important that was to them early in the game, staying level with the Lords at a 19-19 score through one quarter of play.

Momentum went very clearly one way in the second quarter as the Lords went on a 14-0 run to begin the frame. A strong Durham defence held La Cité scoreless in the quarter until nearly the halfway point when they hit a single free throw.

La Cité looked better in the later half of the quarter, scoring 11 points, but 30 points scored by the Lords sent the visitors into the locker room for halftime with a 49-30 lead.

Durham nearly had a 30-point quarter again in the third, recording 29 points to the Coyotes' 19 in the first 10 minutes outside of halftime. Adam Hosseini (Toronto, ON) had his best quarter of the season, shooting 6-for-9 for 18 points in nine minutes of play.

The Coyotes battled hard in their final quarter of the season but were only able to chip away at their deficit by two points. When the final horn rang, the Lords had won by a 27-point margin.

Hosseini finished the afternoon with 22 points, two rebounds and a pair of assists along with a steal.

In 16 minutes of play, Fioti Mabanza (Whitby, ON) had 15 points and two rebounds.

Kanskie Simon (Pickering, ON) came up just short of a double-double with nine rebounds and eight points, an impressive showing nonetheless.

Isaiah Barton (Whitby, ON) and Angelo Sarsonas (Scarborough, ON) both finished the day with 11 points, while Desson Spencer (Scarborough, ON) was also in double-digit territory with 10.
