KING CITY, Ont. - Durham College improves to 5-0 on the men's basketball season following a defensive showdown against the Seneca Sting, winning 56-49.
Trailing by seven points heading into the final quarter, Durham turned up the pressure, outscoring Seneca 21-7 in the fourth. Defensive stops and a series of crucial plays allowed the Lords to wrestle control away from the Sting.Â
Rashane Smith played a key role down the stretch, scoring six of his nine points in the final minutes and adding four rebounds to disrupt Seneca's offence.
The Lords saw a balanced scoring effort across the roster. Miles Hall led with 14 points, shooting an efficient 6-for-9 from the field, while also recording four rebounds and four assists.Â
Smith added nine points and four defensive rebounds, showing his versatility on both ends of the floor. Mark Stoop contributed seven rebounds and three steals, helping the Lords dominate the defensive end in the closing minutes.
The team recorded 16 steals and forced Seneca into 29 turnovers in the game. This defensive pressure led to numerous fast-break opportunities and second-chance points.
Durham will now look ahead to their next game on Friday, November 15 against the Algonquin Wolves at 8:00 PM at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre.
