OTTAWA, Ont. - The Durham College men's basketball team cruised to an 85-53 road win over the Algonquin Wolves in the nation's capital on Friday.
After a tight start, the Lords took full control in the second quarter and never looked back, outscoring Algonquin 25-8 in the second frame to build a commanding 19-point halftime lead.
Durham's offensive rhythm and defensive pressure set the tone all night, shooting 56.9 percent from the field and 45 percent from three-point range while forcing 20 turnovers.
Rudy Fakih led the charge with 19 points, nine rebounds, and three assists, while Jasean Elliott added 15 points, seven boards, and six assists in an all-around effort.
Caleb Carter hit three triples on his way to 13 points, Nathaniel Richardson scored 12 off the bench, and Desson Spencer chipped in nine points and seven rebounds.
Durham controlled the paint with 28 points inside and capitalized on Algonquin's mistakes, turning turnovers into 23 points.
Rashane Smith made his season debut, adding eight points, five rebounds, and two blocks, and the Lords' bench combined for 26 points in the win.
The Lords will have little time to rest as they're set to take on the La Cité Coyotes in Ottawa at 3:00 PM on Saturday.
