Duggan returns to national leadership as CCAA Golf Convenor

OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham College's Michael Duggan (Manager, Intercollegiate Athletics) has been named the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) National Golf Convenor, returning to a leadership position that helped him shape collegiate golf across the country.

The appointment, which begins with the 2026-27 varsity season, marks a return to a role Duggan previously held during the formative years of the CCAA golf championship. His decades of experience as a coach, administrator and national leader have made him one of the most respected figures in Canadian collegiate golf.

As convenor, Duggan will work alongside conference representatives from across the country to oversee the continued growth and operation of the national championship while helping guide the future of the sport at the collegiate level.

"I'm honoured to return to the role," said Duggan. "College golf has given me so much throughout my career, from the relationships I've built to the opportunity to help student-athletes compete at the highest level. I'm looking forward to working with our member conferences again and continuing to build on the strong foundation that's been established while helping ensure the championship continues to provide a first-class experience for everyone involved."

Duggan has spent nearly three decades helping shape collegiate golf in Canada. During his 23 seasons as Durham College's head golf coach, the Lords captured 26 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) team medals, 25 individual OCAA medals, nine CCAA team medals and eight individual national medals.

His impact reached well beyond Durham College. Duggan played a central role in the creation and development of the CCAA Golf National Championship, helping establish the event's structure, qualification process and long-term vision. Working with PING Canada, he helped lay the foundation for a championship that has become a fixture on the Canadian collegiate sports calendar for more than two decades.

Internationally, Duggan also represented Canada on three occasions at the FISU World University Games, serving twice as an assistant coach before leading Team Canada as head coach in 2012.

Now serving as Durham College's Manager, Intercollegiate Athletics, Duggan continues to support student-athlete success while overseeing varsity operations. His appointment as national convenor further strengthens Durham's longstanding reputation as a leader within the Canadian collegiate athletics community.

"Mike's passion for collegiate golf and his commitment to student-athletes have had an incredible impact, not only at Durham College but across the country," said Scott Dennis, Durham College's Director, Athletics and Recreation. "He has dedicated countless hours to growing the sport and improving the championship experience for everyone involved. We're proud to see him return to this important national leadership role and know the CCAA golf community will benefit from his experience, vision and collaborative approach."

The 2026 CCAA Golf National Championships will take place in Blainville, Québec from October 12-16.
