Scott Cawker

In September 2018, Scott Cawker will be entered his first season with the Lords baseball program. Coach Cawker brings a wealth of experience and knowledge as both a player and a coach.

Cawker’s playing experience expands beyond 25 years, the majority of which has been spent with the Oshawa Legionaires. During his time as a player he was a member of three Ontario championship teams as well as many Eastern Ontario title winners.

In 1970 while playing for the Legionaires, Cawker was honored as player of the decade at the centerfield position. He would later go on to transition in to the coaching position and be nominated in 2015 as Coach of the Year, still as a member of the Legionaires.

Currently Cawker is the head coach of the 21U Oshawa Legionaires, a team that is built of many Durham Lords players. Cawker and his team have found a lot of success in recent years past, winning a Toronto Baseball Association (TBA) regular season title in 2016 and a TBA League Championship in 2017. They also won Baseball Oshawa’s Team of the Year in 2017.

Currently, Cawker is a professor in the School of Skilled Trades, Apprenticeships, and Renewable Technology at Durham College.

Cawker and head coach Sam Dempster have worked together in the past during the Durham Lords winter indoor team workouts and they will now have the chance to combine forces under official coaching capacity with Durham.
