Lough played soccer at the highest levels including the Ontario Soccer League and was part of the Ontario East Regional Soccer Association program.
He has his level III coaching certificate and was head coach of a Whitby Iroquois Club girls soccer team from 2000 to 2005 which was ranked top five in Ontario. From 2006 to 2009, he was the assistant coach of an Ajax Warriors Club girls soccer team that played in the Ontario Youth Soccer League.
Lough is currently the goalie coach for the Woodbridge Strikers women's team that plays in the Ontario Women's Soccer League – Provincial South Division.
He continues to play soccer and is the Secretary/Treasurer and Disciplinary Chair of the Durham Old-Timers Soccer League.
He is a father of three girls; one daughter received a full soccer scholarship to Anderson University in South Carolina who made the 2nd All-Conference Team twice. She now plays professional soccer in Denmark.
Lough’s passion is soccer and to this end he has been fortunate enough to attend a Manchester United and a Barcelona home game.
