Mike Hubicki

Mike Hubicki is a NCCP high performance (Level III) trained volleyball coach who joined the Durham College Lords men’s volleyball program in the 2017-18 season as assistant coach. Previously, he was head coach of the Trent University men’s varsity volleyball team from 2013-2016.

Hubicki has coached male and female teams to top four finishes at Ontario and Canadian championships, as well as various elite OVA teams such as the Region 4 Ontario Summer Games team.

In 2008, Hubicki began coaching in the OCAA with the Loyalist Lancer women’s team. Together with coach Clarke, they coached the Lancers to a top four OCAA finish and were recognized with the east region coach of the year award.

Hubicki is excited to work with the athletes at Durham College to nurture the culture of success. With strong roots in the OVA and OCAA, Hubicki is also committed to promoting volleyball in Oshawa and Durham Region, a historically strong centre for high shcool and OVA volleyball.  A recent 2015 graduate himself, having achieved his Master’s of Science in Sport Science and Recreation with a focus on coaching education, he understands the current environment post-secondary students operate within.

He employs cutting-edge mental skill training and development to also help each athlete with mindset mastery. The student-athlete experience at Durham College is also very important Hubicki and he looks forward to mentoring DC athletes through post-secondary life.

Hubicki's coaching philosophy:
"My passion is to become the best coach that I can be, through education and investigation and to lead my athletes to sustain their JOY of learning, training, competing and caring for each other.”
