Durham College has named Warren Williams the 13th women's basketball head coach in program history, with Williams set to take over ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Williams arrives with decades of experience across the post-secondary, high performance and grassroots levels of Canadian basketball. While his first season on the sidelines will come next fall, Williams will hit the ground running, actively recruiting and laying the foundation to build on a competitive roster in advance of the season.

A longtime educator and coach, Williams most notably served as head coach at George Brown College from 2016 through 2020.

During that stretch, his teams steadily improved year-over-year, highlighted by an OCAA East Division championship in 2017-18. His success at the college level earned him OCAA East Coach of the Year honours and a CCAA Coach of the Year nomination in 2018.

Beyond the collegiate game, Williams has built a reputation as one of Ontario's most experienced and respected coaches within the provincial development system. He has held numerous head and assistant coaching roles with Ontario Basketball provincial teams, including multiple medal-winning performances at Canada Basketball National Championships.

His work has also extended into elite club and academy settings, most recently as head coach with Redmond Basketball Academy in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association.

Williams' coaching résumé spans more than three decades and includes championship success at the secondary school, club, provincial and national levels. In 2019, he was recognized with the Coaches Association of Ontario's Good to Great Award, honouring excellence in long-term athlete development and leadership.

Off the court, Williams is a full-time physical education teacher and holds an Advanced Coaching Diploma from the Canadian Sport Institute of Ontario.
