Joensen, a fourth-year business fundamentals student, was a key contributor for the Lords in their OCAA championship weekend. The all-around performer opened the weekend by receiving CCAA All-Canadian, OCAA east player of the year, and OCAA first team all-star honours at the championship banquet. The powerful outside hitter then scored a team-high 13 points and notched nine digs in the Lords quarter-final win over Niagara. DC would drop their semifinal and bronze medal matches to Humber and St. Clair, but Joensen added another 14 points and 12 digs for a three match tournament total of 27 points and 21 digs.
