Durham falls 3-2 to Seneca
 
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team's home opener was a bit of a roller coaster ride on Friday night.
Hosting the Seneca Sting, the Lords lost the first set 25-15.
They would bounce back in the second set though to win it by the same spread, 25-15.
With things knotted up, both teams were neck-and-neck in the third set. Tied 15-15, both teams traded points, eventually sitting even at 23-23. Durham won the next two points to win the set 25-23 and lead the match 2-1.
In the fourth Seneca took the early lead, but down 10-9, Durham went ahead 11-10.
Again, both teams were neck-and-neck with it ending up tied 17-17. Seneca took the momentum from there, going ahead 20-18. They ended up winning the set 25-21.
In the fifth and final set it was all Seneca early on as they jumped ahead 7-1. When the teams switched sides it was 8-3.
Durham didn't throw in the towel though. They battled back to trail 13-7, but lost the set 15-8 and the match 3-2.
Natalie Manicotto and Jessica Broad both led the Lords in kills with 10 apiece, while Melissa Semeniuk led with four blocks
Tina O'Donnell led Seneca with 16 kills. Maxine Law-Tan and Lauren Watt each had two blocks.
Durham's next game is Thursday, Oct. 30 at home against the Loyalist Lancers at 6 p.m.
