OCAA Women's Volleyball
Durham defeats Loyalist 3-0 OSHAWA, Ont. – Coming off a tough 3-2 loss last week in their home opener, the Durham College women's volleyball team were near perfect Thursday night.
Hosting Loyalist College at the CRWC they won 3-0, their first regular season victory of the 2014-15 campaign.
Jessica Broad and
Emily Hacker led the Lords in kills with five apiece, while
Melissa Semeniuk and
Maddie Rae-White had four each.
Tess Newey led the team with two blocks.
In the kill category, with five apiece, Kennedy McMahon and Jillian Robinson led the Lancers. Robinson also led the team in blocks with two.
Durham opened the match with a 25-20 first set win, followed by a back-and-forth second set. It was tied 6-6, 10-10, 16-16, but eventually the Lords jumped ahead to win it 25-21.
The third set was all Lords, although after opening up an 18-9 lead they let the Loyalists close the gap. They did go on to win it 25-20.
