PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team bounced back from second and third set losses to the Trent Excalibur to pick up a 3-2 victory on Saturday in Peterborough.
After edging the Excalibur 26-24 in the opening set, Durham was dominated in the second as Trent took it 25-8.
The Excalibur then won the third set 25-18, putting the Lords in a must win situation in the fourth.
Durham was successful with their backs against the wall as they forced a fifth and deciding set by edging Trent 25-21 in the fourth. Looking more like the Lords team they've been much of this season, Durham won the fifth 15-6 to take the match 3-2 and improve to 6-1 in conference play this season.
Lucia Kalmeyer (Oshawa, Ont.) led Durham with 12 kills and a block, while
Jessica Broad (Courtice, Ont.) added nine kills.
Setter
Megan Romain (Ajax, Ont.) had three kills and 28 assists in the match, but stood out specifically with her four service aces in the match.
The Excalibur were led by Camile Garzon with 15 kills and Sarah MacLaren with six blocks and four service aces.
Durham College will now travel to North York on Wednesday to face the Seneca Sting, with their next home game scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 29 against La Cité Coyotes.
