Box Score NORTH YORK, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team has moved into second place in the OCAA east division after a 3-0 sweep of the Seneca Sting on Wednesday night.
 
Durham opened the match with a commanding 25-13 win over Seneca, but the Sting would bounce back in the second set.
 
Seneca led 11-10 early, but the Lords tied the set and followed by a block by Kristen Curtis (Frankford, Ont.) took a 12-11 lead. Durham opened a small lead, but Seneca tied it again at 19-19.
 
Durham College wouldn't trail for the remainder of the match as they won the second set 25-22 and the third set 25-10.
 
Jessica Broad (Courtice, Ont.) led the Lords with 10 kills, which moved her to 419 at Durham College, putting her second in the Lords' history books. Erin Smith previously held second overall with 417.
 
She also added two blocks and four service aces, for 16 points in the match, which moves her past Karlene Riseborough-Barnes to sit third overall in the Durham College point's category with 546.
 
Curtis picked up six kills in the match, while also leading the team in blocks with three.
 
Nicole Mironov led the Sting offence with six kills. Victoria Wensley picked up five, with Lauren Watt earning the long block in the match for Seneca.
 
Durham will now return home to host the La Cité Coyotes on Sunday, Nov. 29. After their match on Sunday they will wrap up the first half of the season Thursday, Dec. 3 against the Georgian Grizzlies.
