TORONTO, ON – The Durham Lords men's volleyball team took their first road trip of the season to face the George Brown Huskies, falling in four sets.
After the hosts took an early 1-0 lead with a 25-18 first set victory, the Lords would turn it into a best-of-three after tying the match up at one-a-piece with a 25-23 win in the second set. The third frame was tightly contested, but the Huskies came out on top 25-22.
Durham battled hard with the match on the line, although the Huskies had enough juice left in them to take the fourth set 25-19 and win in their home opener.
William Egan (Cobden, ON) hit double-digit kills for the second time in as many matches with 13 on a total of 29 attempts. Egan also registered a pair of service aces, three digs and a blocked shot.
Tyler Jegen (Calgary, AB) recorded seven kills, a pair of aces and a blocked shot, while Michael Penney (Whitby, ON) was not far behind with five kills.
Leading the away in assists, Kyle Travis (Courtice, ON) earned 21 on the night. Travis was also the team leader in blocks with four. Jacques Tournadre (Milton, ON) had six digs, leading his team in the category.
The Lords play their second home match of the season on Thursday, November 3 against the Fleming Knights following the women's match.
