SCARBOROUGH, ON – The Durham Lords men's basketball team suffered their first loss of the regular season on Saturday afternoon, falling 89-84 to the Centennial Colts.
It was a high scoring opening quarter as the Colts took a 25-17 lead through 10 minutes. Centennial extended their lead with another 20-point quarter, and the Lords went into the locker rooms for the halftime break down 45-29.
Kanskie Simon (Pickering, ON) led the charge on a big third quarter as the Lords cut their deficit down from 16 to single digits. Simon drained four buckets for nine points with five rebounds in the quarter alone. The Lords scored a game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter, but the comeback fell short by five points.
Angelo Sarsonas (Scarborough, ON) led the team in points with 27. Simon posted a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Adam Hosseini (Toronto, ON) and Oshane Taylor-Douglas (Scarborough, ON) each recorded double-digit points in the game. Hosseini posted 17 points while Taylor-Douglas added 11, along with eight asissts, six rebounds and four steals.
The Lords will play their home opener at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre on Tuesday, November 1 against the George Brown Huskies at 8:00 PM.
