SCARBOROUGH, ON – The Durham Lords women's basketball team won their second game in as many played this season with a 58-50 win over the Centennial Colts.
It was a slow start for the Lords, trailing 21-13 through one quarter. Durham had a very defensively sound second quarter, holding the Colts to only one basket in 10 minutes as Centennial shot 1-for-19 in the quarter.
It was a back and forth third quarter, with only two points separating the opposing teams – in the hosts favour. The Lords had their best offensive quarter of the game by far in the fourth, outscoring the Colts 23-13 to win it 58-50.
Brianna Morrison (Oshawa, ON) led the team with 26 points in addition to nine rebounds, three rebounds and an assist. Shay Littmann (Ajax, ON) and Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, ON) each registered nine points, with the latter also grabbing nine boards.
Durham benefited from a more accurate shooting percentage, shooting 36.4% to Centennial's 26.0%.
The Lords return to action on Tuesday for their home opener as the George Brown Huskies visit the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre at 6:00 PM.
