Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Durham College Sports Information

Hosseini records career high 35 points in win over Lancers

OSHAWA, ON – For the second consecutive game, the Durham Lords men's basketball team reached triple digit territory with a 102-93 win over the Loyalist Lancers at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.

There were plenty of lead changes over the course of the game, as was evident in a back-and-forth first quarter that saw the Lords on top 27-26. Despite nine lead changes in the game, the layup at the beginning that put Loyalist up 2-0 would be their largest lead of the game.

Durham matched their first quarter total with 27 more in the second quarter, holding the Lancers to 22 to take a 54-48 lead into the half.

Things slowed down a little in the third quarter, but a five-point gap in the hosts favour put Durham up 77-66 as they begun to create a hill that would be too difficult to climb. Early in the fourth quarter, Adam Hosseini (Toronto, ON) put the Lords up 81-66 and that 15-point lead would be their largest of the game.

Down 85-70, the Lancers hit three unanswered buckets in under a minute to stay alive and make it a single-digit game. A pair of free throws hit by Hosseini with 1:13 left on the clock put the Lords at 100 and a layup from Glodi Kashala (Brampton, ON) put the game away in the 102-93 victory.

Hosseini was the leader for the Lords on the floor with a career-high 35 points, along with seven rebounds and three steals. Oshane Taylor-Douglas (Scarborough, ON) registered 25 points, nine assists, six rebounds and four steals.

Angelo Sarsonas (Scarborough, ON) recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists. Fioti Mabanza (Whitby, ON) didn't take many shots but he was perfect with the ones he did take, going 4-for-4 on the night with seven rebounds, five of which being defensive.

Durham will play the second of their four game homestand on Tuesday against the Seneca Sting, tipping off at 8:00 PM.
