Three match winning streak forms as Lords sweep Sting

OSHAWA, ON - For the third consecutive match, the Durham Lords men's volleyball team only needed three sets to secure the win in a 3-0 win over the visiting Seneca Sting on Tuesday night.

Coming into the evening on a two match winning streak, the Lords picked up where they left off with a 25-19 win in the first set, taking the opening frame in three of five matches to begin the year.

Seneca took an early 7-5 lead in the second set, but five unanswered points scored by the Lords put them ahead and they wouldn't lose that lead throughout the set to take it 25-21.

After jumping out to a 12-4 lead to begin the third and eventually extending their lead to 20-9, the writing was on the wall as the Lords looked to secure their third consecutive three set victory. Seneca scored 8 of the next 13 points scored, but it wasn't enough as Durham posted a 25-17 win to finish the night.

William Egan (Cobden, ON) was the team leader in kills with 14, which amounts to just shy of 38% of Durham's team total in the match.

Kyle Travis (Courtice, ON) was all over the floor as the playmaker on the evening with 21 assists and a blocked shot. Tyler Jegen (Calgary, AB) and Michael Penney (Whitby, ON) also recorded blocked shots on the evening.

Durham served nine aces with seven different players, including Carter Reid (Oshawa, ON) and Penney who each served a pair.

The Lords will head to the nation's capital this weekend for a pair of matchups against the Algonquin Wolves and La Cité Coyotes.
