PETERBOROUGH, ON – The Durham Lords picked up their second win in as many OCAA regular season appearances on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Fleming Knights in three sets.
Durham started strong and it would be the story of the match, taking the first set 25-9 and the second set 25-10 on the road.
Fleming showed signs of life when they went on a 5-0 run to begin the third set, but the Lords would ultimately battle back to win 25-13 and complete the sweep in Peterborough.
First-year outside hitter
Cassidy Unrau (Port Coquitlam, BC) appeared in all three sets, recording nine kills on 19 total attempts and serving a team-high five aces.
Mia Hildebrandt (Winnipeg, MB) and
Katie Stewart (Gananoque, ON) were also major contributors with seven and five killers, respectively.
Brooke Young (Chestermere, AB) and
Jill Batsford (Kingston, ON) split playmaking duties, with Young tallying 10 assists and Batsford recording nine.
It will be a quick turnaround for the Lords as they make the trip to North Bay on Sunday to play the Canadore Panthers.
