OSHAWA, ON – With a spotlight on the graduating seniors, the Durham Lords wrapped up the home game portion of their OCAA regular season schedule with a 43-point victory over George Brown, defeating the Huskies 74-31.
The Huskies took an early 3-0 lead, but once the Lords hit a pair of buckets to take the lead – they never looked back.
George Brown kept the first quarter relatively close, but things changed in the second quarter when Durham outscored the Huskies 17-3 to take a 32-13 lead going into halftime. A suffocating Lords defence kept pressure on the Huskies, holding them to single digit points again while the hosts dropped 18.
There was no stopping Durham in the fourth quarter where the Lords added 24 more points in the quarter to secure a dominant win.
With a 43-point margin of victory, the Lords pick up their greatest OCAA regular season win since defeating the Georgian Grizzlies by 44 on October 18, 2019. The Lords have also defeated the George Brown Huskies in three consecutive meetings dating back to January 21, 2020.
Taesia Pinnock (Pickering, ON) had her best game of the season, as the freshman posted a double-double with a massive 29-point, 20 rebound performance. In this game, Pinnock marked a career high in points, field goals made, rebounds, assists, and steals in a single game.
Graduating Seniors
Following the game, the Durham Lords recognized and honoured their four graduating seniors.
"We're really proud of the fact that
Jillian Thompson is an Academic All-Canadian. She's in a very tough program here at Durham College so to acknowledge the fact that she works so hard at her academics and her athletics is a real credit to Jillian", said Head Coach

"Rusheda left Winnipeg to come here and we're certainly glad that she did. As our point guard she's been running the show all year for us and she commands the floor. If you saw her tonight, you can see how valuable she is," remarked LaFontaine.
Rusheda Gibbs (Winnipeg, MB) registered eight points against the Huskies on Wednesday evening.
"Glory is a welcome addition who came to us from the rugby team and she is quite an impact rugby player as well. Congratulations Glory", said LaFontaine.

"Three years ago Marie came to us and was not only a dominant player but she was also the OCAA rookie of the year. We're really happy that she's back on the court because she's a major contributor to the team," said the Head Coach.
