OSHAWA, ON – At the regular season finale, the Durham Lords went on the road to Kingston to defeat the St. Lawrence Surge 75-67, finishing .500 or above in conference play for a seventh consecutive season.
St. Lawrence started hot with a 22-13 lead through one quarter, but the Lords could not be contained in the second quarter when they dropped 27 points to take a 40-36 lead going into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Surge bounced back with eight field goals and five free throws made, but Durham would double their opponents points in the fourth quarter to finish off the season with an eight-point victory.
Taesia Pinnock (Pickering, ON) led her squad in points with 17, including 11 rebounds.
Rusheda Gibbs (Winnipeg, MB) hit 13 points, and
Onika Leveridge (Scarborough, ON) grabbed 18 boards in addition to 12 points.
Marie Stasiuk (Cobourg, ON) scored 11 points and jumped up for eight rebounds in her return to the court. The Lords finished with six players in double-digit point territory.
The Lords now have their sights set on the OCAA Qualifiers as they await final seeding to find out their opponent.
