Near comeback comes up short as Lords fall in regular season finale

OSHAWA, ON – The Durham Lords nearly rallied back with a comeback against the Algonquin Wolves on Graduating Seniors Night, but ultimately fell short in five sets.
 
After dropping the first two sets in the match, the Lords proved that they wouldn't go down without a fight, winning 25-22 in the third set and taking the fourth set by a 25-14 score. The Wolves found their game again in the fifth and final set, taking it 15-6 over Durham.
 
Harrison Wood (Uxbridge, ON) led the team in kills with 19 on 35 total attempts and 14 digs, while Quinton Hudgins (Port Perry, ON) also reached double digits with 10. Tyler Jegen (Calgary, AB) was the playmaker, generating 31 assists.
 
Durham registered 10 aces in the match, with three a piece coming from Carter Reid (Oshawa, ON) and Hudgins.
 
Graduating Seniors
 
Prior to the match, the Durham Lords recognized and honoured their five graduating seniors.
 
Tyler Jegen
Tyler is a Pre-Health Sciences student that joins us all the way from Calgary, Alberta. He has appeared in all seven regular season matches this season, recording 95 assists, 62 digs, 39 kills, 21 serving aces and 12 blocked shots this season. He's played libero, left side, right side and setter.
 
William Egan
William is a Trade Fundamentals major from Cobden. In 14 sets played, the outside hitter has recorded 92 total attacks, 27 kills, 15 digs and served five aces. Most notably, he generated 10 kills on the road against Fleming College this season.
 
Quinton Hughes
Quinton is a Sport Management student from Port Perry. Coming back to the Durham Region from Humber, he has been a standout player for the Lords with 68 kills, 52 digs and 14 aces in 28 sets. He has hit double-digit kills four times this season, including a total of 29 in his last two matches.
 
Gavin Muller
Gavin is a Pre-Service Firefighting major and a homegrown talent coming to the college from Whitby. He made his presence known at the Adidas Cup this fall and has been a very valuable member of the volleyball program. He's played middle and right side and has a devastating serve.
 
Jacques Tournadre
Jacques is also a Pre-Service Firefighting student. Coming to us from Milton, he has appeared in 20 sets in 6 matches in the shortened season. Notably, he has added 57 digs to the scoresheet this season – hitting double digits in his last three matches including a massive 26 against George Brown.
 
The Lords now have their sights set on the OCAA Qualifiers as they await final seeding to find out their opponent.
