OSHAWA, ON – For the third time in the last four seasons, the Durham Lords finish the OCAA regular season undefeated after sweeping the La Cité Coyotes. In eight matches played this season, the Lords swept their opponent seven times.
The Lords were dominant from the start, defeating the Coyotes 25-17 in the first set, 25-14 in the second set and finished the Coyotes off 25-17 in the third. Blocks were a major story in the match, with six different players on the Lords earning points at the net.
Mia Hildebrandt (Winnipeg, MB) recorded double-digit kills for the Lords with ten over the Coyotes through three sets.
Jill Batsford (Kingston, ON) assisted 16 of the Lords 22, with
Brooke Young (Chestermere, AB) grabbing the other six.
Durham served three aces in the match, with Hildebrandt, Young and Jessica Anatol (Ajax, ON) each serving one. The Lords were also huge at the net with 15 blocked shots to the Coyotes two, led by
Amanda Larsen (Toronto, ON) with four. Also defensively,
Katie Stewart (Gananoque, ON) had eight digs while
Cassidy Unrau (Port Coquitlam, BC) grabbed seven.
The Lords now have their sights set on the OCAA Qualifiers as they await final seeding to find out their opponent.
