OSHAWA, ON - A dominant second half for the Durham College men's basketball team lifted them over the Centennial Colts 85-71.
At the time undefeated, the Colts were defended tightly by the Lords to start the game with Durham taking an 11-10 lead with 3:47 left in the first quarter. Centennial found their rhythm, going on a 13-6 run to end the quarter with an eight point lead.
Durham bounced back in the second quarter, scoring 22 points to cut the deficit to only three by halftime.
The Lords had their highest scoring frame of the night in the third quarter, scoring 26 points combined across seven difference players on the floor. O'Shane Taylor-Douglas (Scarborough, ON) led the pack with six points.
Going into the fourth and final quarter with a 64-60 lead, the Lords held Centennial to a game-low 11 points in the quarter, while scoring 21 to add to their lead and secure the win.
Jasean Elliott (Toronto, ON) was the team leader in points with 16, along with six rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Taylor-Douglas finished the night with 13 points, eight assists, six rebounds and as many steals. Mark Stoop (Oshawa, ON) had a 10-point game to go along with four massive blocks on the night.
In 12 minutes of play, Kanskie Simon (Pickering, ON) posted nine points and two rebounds. Caleb Carter (Brampton, ON) took advantage of his six minutes of floor time, scoring four points and grabbing one board.
The Lords next play on Saturday, November 18 in Ottawa against the Algonquin Wolves at 6:00 PM.
