OTTAWA, ON - The Durham College men's basketball team reached triple-digit territory for the first time this season after defeating the Algonquin Wolves 102-59.
The Lords showed the nation's capital why their offence is so lethal after leading the hosts 53-31 going into halftime.
Coming out of the break, the Lords had a third quarter to remember. Durham went on a 15-7 run in the opening three minutes of the frame before outscoring the Wolves 20-1 the rest of the way to take a massive 88-39 lead into the third quarter.
It didn't seem like the Lords could miss as Jasean Elliott (Toronto, ON) went 4-for-4 in the quarter while Kanskie Simon (Pickering, ON) and Desson Spencer (Scarborough, ON) went 3-for-3. All-in-all, the Lords shot a 75% field goal percentage in the 10 minutes coming out of halftime while holding Algonquin to single-digit points.
The Wolves showed signs of life again in the fourth quarter, having their highest scoring frame with 20 points. The mountain of a lead created in the third quarter was far too steep to overcome for the hosts as the Lords went on to win by 43.
Elliott finished the game 11-for-13, scoring 24 points to go along with five steals, three assists and a pair of rebounds.
Durham had four other players with 10+ points in addition to Elliott, starting with Spencer who scored 13 and registered four steals, three rebounds and two assists. Simon finished the night with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Oshane Taylor-Douglas (Scarborough, ON) posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists, adding four steals.
In 18 minutes of play, Rudy Fakih (Toronto, ON) scored registered 11 assists, two rebounds and an assist.
Kevin Hamlet (Scarborough, ON) was all over the court for the Lords with nine points, seven assists and two steals.
The Lords are back at it on Sunday afternoon as they stay in Ottawa for a 1:00 PM tip-off against the La Cité Coyotes.
